JTL operates a National Fibre connecting all the metro fibre network and neighbouring countries. This fibre network runs on leased dark fibre on the highly secure OPGW fibre from Kenya Power Company and underground government of Kenya owned National Fibre Optic Backbone (NOFBI).
JTL has invested in TEAMS, the submarine fibre cable that links Mombasa to Fujaira as well as security capacity from SeaCom and EASSy. In addition, JTL has established relationships with international carriers (ETISALAT, Telecom Italia, TATA) for onward connectivity for the TEAMS and WIOCC cables.
JTL has deployed Next Generation Metro Fiber Networks Countrywide We have Metro Fiber Networks in Mombasa, Voi, Nairobi, Thika, Nyeri, Naivasha, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kitale, Kericho, Kisumu, Kisii, Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Malaba based on DWDM/SDH with a backbone capacity of 400Gbps. JTL provides fibre connectivity to the home using Gigabit Passive Optical Network Technology (GPON). This service is available in Nairobi (Karen, Muthaiga, Nyari, Lower Kabete, Loresho, Runda, Gigiri, Kyuna) and Mombasa (Nyali). The GPON network is deployed using underground cable as well as overhead fibre on the KPLC low tension poles. This enables rapid and secure deployment to clients.
JTL has recently upgraded its network to provide Layer 3 MPLS services. The MPLS network is available in all locations where there is JTL fibre presence both on the national backbone, metro and GPON fibre networks.
